A few weeks after Bowie joined Lucia and Brayden, Lucia texted me to ask if I thought it was a bad idea to get another dog. I said something along the lines that if both halves of the marriage were good with it, it was probably fine. Turns out that Lu and Brayden had been keeping an eye on Bowie’s brother who had still not been sold. Brayden was supposed to get to pick the second dog, so Lu helped Brayden to see that the correct choice for a second dog was indeed said brother. A week or so after that, they brought home Bowie’s brother and named him Benny, again so it would be easy for him to learn his name after being called “Buddy” his whole life on the farm.
A short time later, Lu took the dogs to the beach. Portuguese water dogs love water—or they’re supposed to, as their name suggests. Dobby does not love water, so this is new for us to observe. Lucia took a video of Benny at the beach and forwarded it to the Goons with the caption, “In case you needed serotonin today.” Here’s the video.
This touched off a, uh, kerfluffle.
Lindsay: Doesn’t even get the frisbee, lol
Lauren: The water looks so nice!
Me: Mom thinks Benny is clueless.
Lindsay: Benny thinks mom is clueless.
Lu: You’ve never even met him. He was just too hyped. I’m gonna fight mom
Me: Relax, Boo. It was a joke.
Lu: I know. I just realized I’m gonna be a tiger mom.
Lu and Brayden are due to move from Hawaii to Massachusetts in the next months. Some of you might get to see them around. You’re gonna want to keep those comments about Bowie and Benny very positive. Tigers are no fun to mess with.
