Lindsay is wrestling and studying to be a physician’s assistant at Lock Haven University. But clearly, she has backup plans if those pathways don’t work out. Being a TikTok star, for example. The other day, Lindsay posted this video on her TikTok account and instantly racked up hundreds of views.
That set off mild paroxysms of rage and irritation in the family. I texted back almost instantly, “There goes Lindsay leaning into gender stereotypes.” Lindsay wrote that it wasn’t her fault, that something is wrong with the back tire. The tire probably has a valve stem leak, and it probably needs to be replaced, but it leaks at such a slow amount that we’ve been too lazy to do anything about it.
Lucia wrote back to Lindsay that it was her fault because she knew the tire was an issue, and all she has to do was check and air up her tires every six to eight weeks, which she should do anyway. Of course, this reflects a difference in how the girls see the car. Lucia drove that car during her last couple of years at home. She kept it immaculate on the inside and yelled at anyone who might leave trash in it. It was her respite from her “wicked annoying family.” She liked being in it and loved playing all her music by herself. She was meticulous about its upkeep and was always on top of the tire pressures, oil changes, and gas.
When Lu left for college, it was Lindsay’s turn to drive it, and Lindsay has basically treated it like a rolling trashcan. It’s loaded with McDonald’s castoffs, half-drunk water bottles from wrestling practices and meets, discarded clothes, etc. When Lindsay drove home for Christmas, Lucia was outraged and the two of them cleaned it together with the promise from Lindsay that she would keep it spotless from then on, to which the rest of us said,

Later that day, I got an email from Brayden who is at sea. Among other things he talked about, he also wrote this: “Tell Lindsay I saw her tiktok and if I catch her with her tire pressure at 16psi I’m throwing hands.” Brayden is a helicopter mechanic, so his skill in this area is unquestioned. He also wrestled in high school, and we have a mat in our basement, so this could get interesting.
But Lindsay wasn’t done with TikTok controversies. Later, she produced and posted this with her boyfriend, Carson. That also drew hundreds of views . . . and heaps of scorn on Carson’s head. All his friends messaged him that he was whipped and soft and all sorts of stuff. Lindsay was unapologetic because, hey, it’s all about the view count, right?
But while you work at TikTok superstardom, Lindsay, be sure to keep your grades up. It’s a far more likely path.
