The stake president has released him from his mission. He removes his tag and tucks it in his pocket.
“Could I have my dad give me a blessing?”
“Sure,” says President Grande.
His dad stands and places hands on his head.
“Gordon Derby Laws, Jr., by the authority of the Melchizedek Priesthood, I lay my hands upon your head and give you a blessing as you conclude your mission.
“You have faithfully served and completed your ordained missionary service, but you can continue still to share the Gospel. Gordon, your life is a mission, and I bless you that you will be blessed throughout it. I bless you that you will find success in your studies, that you have the Spirit in choosing your life’s labors, and that you will find a spouse to go throughout this mission with you. I bless you that you will find a publisher for your book. I bless you that you will be instrumental in bringing many more people to the Savior. And I seal this blessing upon you along with any others you may stand in need of in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
